November

On the Champs Elysee.  The weather has been lovely, sunny with temperatures in the mid-sixties.

Santa Claus is already sitting at Paris department stores

Venus

Too was well displayed.

Mona has moved

Last time I saw the Mona Lisa it was just one of many pictures on a wall.  That has changed.  She has her own wall and lots of tourists taking pictures, even in November.

The Pyramid

Saw it finally.  You can see what motivated the Museum of Science and Industry to build their new entrance.

Louvre

We made it to the Louvre by noon.

Sainte-Chapelle

Yesterday we walked nearly 30,000 steps:  from our hotel at Place de l'Opera to the Tuileries, across the Seine to Musee d'Orsay to the Isle de la Cite and St. Chapelle, across Isle de la Cite, across the river again to Place de Vosges in Marais.  We ate chicken curry (surprise) at an unidentifiable Asian place and walked home in the dark.  Went to bed at 9 pm and woke up at 9:20 am.

Familiar scene

A framed poster of this hung in my apartment for many years.

Topical painting

Of red-headed nursing mother.  I think it's by Renoir.

Le Grand Hotel

So we landed in Paris a couple of hours late.  The guy at the information desk sent us on the express bus to Opera.  I was too tired to search the map for our hotel, figuring I would get directions to Rue Scribe when we got to Place l'Opera.  When we got to Opera, the bus stop was marked Opera- Scribe.  Across the street was Le Grand Hotel.  But where was the Intercontinental?  Oh, Le Grand Hotel is the Intercontinental.
